EDNA ROBERTSON’S MOTHER - ROBERTINA CROSS

Edna’s mother, Robertina May Watson Osborne CROSS, (pictured on the right) was born at Osborne, (now Mt. Martha), Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.

Robertina’s parents were Richard Cross and Mary Ann Mossman.

 

THE CROSS FAMILY - CORK, IRELAND

Robertina’s parents were Richard CROSS and Mary Ann (nee MOSSMAN).

Richard CROSS (my great, grandfather) was born in Cork, Ireland and at the time of his daughter’s marriage he was an engineer.

County Cork, Ireland, in Munster Province is the largest county in Ireland. It is a maritime county in south-eastern Ireland and its capital is the principal port of southern Ireland. The name Cork is a shortened form of the Gaelic work Corcaigh (meaning a marsh).

THE MOSSMAN FAMILY - DUNBARTONSHIRE, SCOTLAND

Mary Ann MOSSMAN was born  in Dunbartonshire, Scotland.

Dunbaronshire is a burgh in Scotland, lying on the north bank of the River Clyde, about 25 kms north west of Glasgow.

RICHARD AND MARY CROSS’S CHILDREN

Richard and Mary Cross had three children:

* William Bunbury Fairfax
* Richard John
* Robertina May 

Richard and Mary were living at Capel Street, East Hotham, Victoria, when their second son, Richard John was born.

ROBERTINA ROBERTSON (NEE CROSS)’S DEATH

Robertina May Robertson died suddenly in 1941 just a short time before her second son, Thomas Noel, was killed on board the HMAS “Sydney” during World War Two on 20 November 1941.

 

EDNA MAY ROBERTSON MEETS CECIL WEST

Edna met Cecil West (Michael O’Keefe’s grandson) in the eastern Sydney suburbs where they both lived during the 1930s.

 

DEATH OF CECIL WEST

Cecil West died at Gosford, NSW. He was cremated at the Palmdale Cremoratium.

SECOND MARRIAGE FOR EDNA WEST

Following the death of her first husband, Cecil West, Edna married Alan Fuller, a long time friend, at Toukley, New South Wales. Alan Fuller died of cancer .

DEATH OF EDNA FULLER

Edna Fuller (nee West, nee Robertson) died at Norah Head, New South Wales.
