From the 1880s -this repeater was donated by a friend who began his career in the Marconi School of Radio and was employed as a radio officer on merchant ships. Early on he had to service spark transmitters  as well as be responsible for receiving and relaying large amounts of news and information via Morse code. The repeater is probably from an Overland Telegraph Line station.
