Building and using kayaks can be fun. Paddling can also enhance personal fitness and health. However the main purpose of this waiver is remind you that there are also risks associated with the building and use of water craft. Every year people die while boating. Many of these tragedies can be avoided. Paddling your kayak will be a rewarding experience with minimal risks if you build and maintain your kayak correctly and you have the appropriate skills and equipment required. To this end we strongly recommend that you acquire the appropriate skills by joining one of the state-based sea kayaking clubs (contact us for details) and take part in the skills and related equipment training that they provide or engage the services of a commercial kayak operator (look in the Yellow Pages).
We have taken great care with the design and testing of our kayak kits including the preparation of the construction manual. It is very important that you assemble your kayak kit in accordance with these instructions paying particular attention to information provided on safe work practices. Your completed kayak kit must be structurally sound and should not leak. If you encounter problems during construction you should contact us.
The standard weight kayak is suitable for most conditions including moderate surf. If you require a kayak for use in heavy seas you should notify us when ordering and we will supply you with materials appropriate for building an expedition weight kayak. Even moderate surf can, on rare occasions, damage a well-built expedition kayak. If you order a light-weight kayak kit you should be aware that this craft was designed for use in sheltered waters and is not recommended for use in heavy seas. Please check the attached order form carefully to ensure you have selected the appropriate weight kayak kit and fittings.
It is important for you to maintain your kayak in good condition and repair any damage promptly. Contact us if you require advice.
Finally, Advanced kayak Kits Australia accepts no liability for damages to persons, property, life or economic loss arising out of any action on your part arising from the construction and use of your kayak kit. Further Advanced Kayak Kits Australia accepts no responsibility for transferred kayak kits or kayaks.
Please sign this waiver and return with the order form to:
