The Festival provides an opportunity to SEE – TOUCH - SMELL & LEARN ABOUT the diverse and spectacular wildflowers of our region and their interaction and relationships to our unique fauna.

Leisurely do your own banksia/dryandra botanic garden or natural bush walks where most plant species are labelled or join a guide to discover hidden bush secrets.

Activities Galore- A Festival for all ages.

Join our distinguished guest speakers talking on some fascinating subjects.

Friday 14 th . Dr. Chris Dunn , Plant pathologist and dieback working group member from the Kalamunda Shire Council talking on Dieback and the latest research details and treatments. “Things that kill the bush -can we save our susceptible species”

Saturday 15 th . Mr. Eric McCrum. OAM. Naturalist extraordinaire talking on

“mini-beasts”. Those fascinating and unusual critters in our landscape.

Sunday 16 th . Associate Professor, Dale Roberts. School of Animal Biology UWA. Talking on the fascinating frogs of our region and their importance to our ecosystem.

Monday 17 th . Dr. Tony Friend. Principle research scientist, CALM Albany. Talking on Gilbert's Potoroo. Saving our rare “truffle-eating marsupial”.

ALL DAYS .

  • Mrs Margaret Pieroni, Brilliant botanical artist and leader of the Dryandra Study Group will be in residence to display her skills & hand sign artworks purchased.
  • Mr. Kevin Collins, Banksia guru will be conducting daily guided tours of the gardens and showing Alex George / Celia Rosser famous botanical volumes “The Banksias”.
  • Mr. Peter Blyth, Bush Poet will entertain you with some of his masterpieces.

Hear some great recitals whilst enjoying a wine or light lunch under the g ian t river banksias.

  • Mrs Leslie Harrison, Animal Carer extraordinaire. Visit Leslie's special cuddly friends at her tent. You may get to hold or help feed some of our special Austral ian marsupials.
  • Kids stuff – Paint your own honey possum, make a gum nut whistle, fly a banksia seed or make bush velcro with banksia velvet sticks.
  • Named local orchid and wildflower displays.
  • Named weed display.
  • Local information sheets on the wildflower/orchid hotspots of our district.
  • Native Plant, Seed and Fresh Flower sales.
  • Fine botanical artworks – new releases, sales & festival discounts.
  • Wildflower books and craft item sales.
