There are many different costs associated with buying and selling a property. We have provided an overall summary to assist you.

Purchasers:- don’t forget to allow for the cost of insurance and any reports you require – white ant or building reports for example.

Claire Foley Conveyancing can provide estimates for most of these costs in our quote section.

Your Lender will be able to advise on their charges

Fees charged by a settlement agent are set down by Ministry of Fair Trading. They are on a sliding scale based on the value of the property.

There is also a whole variety of Government charges, which may include some of the following -

  • Stamp duty
  • Registration fees to DLI
  • Enquiry fee to Water Corporation
  • Enquiry fee to Land Tax Department
  • Enquiry fee to Local Shire or Council
  • Enquiry fee to WA Planning Commission
  • Search fees of the certificate of title, strata plan, restrictive covenants, caveats etc
  • Enquiry Fee to Strata Company

If you are going to borrow funds to purchase your property your Lender will generally require a mortgage over the property.

Generally a mortgage broker can provide you with information from a whole variety of Lenders and about different loan packages. Check with your Broker but many provide this service to you free of charge.

A Mortgage Broker can give you up-to-date information in relation to interest rates and assist in analysing the different fees and charges of the various lenders.
