Foal   supermarket!
making it easy for buyers (as well as fun for me!)

Go here to see what last year's owners said....

My breeding philosophy?

I think that everyone primarily wants a horse who has a great temperament and is sound. Size, athleticism, movement, looks etc. are obviously needed to suit your chosen discipline, but most of all it has to be sound, healthy and a pleasure to own. My stallions and mares are chosen for this, and in a variety of sizes and bones to give a good selection of babies size and type wise! The thoroughbred mares give us the athletic/fast eventer types, in various sizes, the draft mares give us the solid hunter types. I also have some smaller mares as not every one needs huge horses! Pick your size/type/sex; they will all be nice people!!
Max babies will do anything you ask, he has great show jumping bloodlines (Gilshaw Caliph is Sire of Betty Blockbuster who jumps at world cup level) and Max's full brother just sold for big money as a potential GP dressage horse. Max could have been a star but for an injury as a baby.
Winston is different. He is fine and elegant and very pretty and - wow - you should see him move! He too has an impeccable temperament and loves cuddles and kisses. Bred to star in dressage, his babies will be pretty and have great movement.
My mares are carefully chosen for conformation, temperament and performance potential. I won't breed anything with crooked legs, bad temperament or a short neck. I do like good movement and will always lean towards the mare who has good feet, legs and movement and a good length of rein, as that will produce something that will stay sound and be more pleasurable to ride. In the TB I do have my favourite TB bloodlines, Bold Invader, Drought, Beau Sovereign, Haulpak, etc, stallions all known for producing good eventers and jumpers. And I love the big boned and great temperamented draft crosses.
I supplement mares and foals with a good multivitamin and calcium supplements - your horse (which will probably be bay!) will have straight legs and great feet, and have the very best chance of a long and sound life. They run in big hilly paddocks, over rocks, into water, to set them up for a lifetime of soundness - far better than being raised on flat sand paddocks.
They come with everything you need to register as a Cleveland Bay sporthorse.

My selling philosophy?
I hate selling horses, and if I had infinite time/money/land/ability/youth I would keep them all. But as I love breeding them, and having babies around, the next best thing is to send them on to good homes who will love them for me.
So I try to make it easy for buyers. My prices are designed to cover my costs; I don't do this for the money (wrong business!). As this is my hobby, no GST is payable. All agistment and care until weaning (usually at around 5 months) is included in the price of foals at foot. Foals will have all their vaccinations and all necessary worming and feet trims are done at my cost. They will have been haltered and lead, only basic work but so as to go into the truck with no dramas. Note that weanlings generally travel well and from here to Perth costs about $170 with a professional transport company.  We can also agist your horse until you are ready to take it, for a very reasonable cost.

So you want a foal?
Maybe you don't have a suitable mare or maybe you want one NOW! How do you do it??
1. Pick the year when you want one, go here to look at the mares and see who is in foal to who! Some in foal mares may  be for sale, just ask.
2. Pick the type of mare you like and choose from our lovely girls! Come visit, if you are not used to seeing and handling babies, please come and see us and I can help.
3. Talk about money; my prices are designed to approximate what it would cost to send your own mare to stud and keep her for a year to foal. But you get the choice of sex and type without the worry, time and potential heartache to have your own mare foal. Obviously they get more pricey as they grow up and have more work!.
4. Pay a deposit and sign our contract to purchase
5. Come visit your baby whenever you like, and if you can't come I will send photos.
6. Pay the rest of the money before foal is ready to go (normally at 5 months).
7. Foal is on the truck to you! I can book and organise truck, you pay for it. Or you can come pick it up.
8. Of course older horses can go as soon as paid for...

As with most other studs, once your foal is 24 hours old it is your horse. Obviously I take all care I can, and agist it and do any treatments it needs while it is on mum for free! You are welcome to insure him/her against loss or injury.
