Graeme Dearle - Finalist 2005 Western Australian Tourism Awards

Graeme and Toni Dearles’ vision for Pemberton Discovery Tours is based on sound eco tourism principles. Starting in January, 2000 they at times employ contracted guides who deliver an equal quality product to their clients.

Pemberton Discovery Tours offer an exciting 4WD experience in an air-conditioned Toyota Land cruiser Arkana which seats up to 13 passengers… or you may wish to Tag-a-long for peace of mind, if you have your own 4WD vehicle.

Graeme will take you on a journey through the D'Entrecasteaux and Warren National Parks.

D'Entrecasteaux National Park - Dunes overtaking the forest Graeme’s experience comes from Safari Guide Training which includes safety and survival certification along with a wealth of experience after 15 years in four wheel driving in his past employment.

Wendy, is an environmental scientist with a passion for frogs and the environment. She has been guiding in the Pemberton area over the last 6 years and adds a different dimension to our tours.

Air New Zealand Famil - organised with Tourism Western Australia - it was an honour to escort these vibrant young travel representatives through our forests and dunes on a Beach & Forest Off-road Adventure. Feedback was phenomenal.

Asked to be on the Small Business Centre's TV advertising campaign - this meant I will be on the local TV , along with Graeme and Louise for 3 months. Many Thanks for the opportunity!

Visit from a couple of young ladies from Tour De Monte magazine (A Korean Travel Magazine) - mind you they liked the look of my husbands legs (may have to watch himself - long pants from now on Graeme!)

Visit by Western Australian travel writer Angela Parker - who was fortunate enough to have a close encounter with a seal sunning himself on the beach! This resulted in a 3 page editorial in the Saturday's West Australian Newspaper.

Visit by Korean Journalist Joo-Chung Cho who will hopefully tell his fellow countrymen about our beautiful natural environment. Joo really enjoyed our nocturnal walk around Big Brook and our quest for frogs and bugs! Read his reviews!

Opened the Pemberton Discovery Shop on the main street of Pemberton Western Australia - this has allowed me to get out of the Home office & speak to people! The feedback has been amazing!

We decided to take the family up to Exmouth (Graeme drove :o) for some well deserved R&R and research. We experienced Neil McLeod's award winning Ningaloo Safari Tours which I was happy to see compared very well with our tour! We also came back with some great ideas.

Dec - 2004
Owners Graeme & Toni Dearle completed a 1 day intensive "Campfire Culture" night with the Global Gypsies at the Waarlitj Aboriginal Corporations Grounds near Bibra Lakes in Perth. This new information and Aboriginal knowledge will be incorporated into the tours.

Nov - 2004
We have just purchased our new tour bus - a 14 seater Arkana converted Toyota Landcruiser, so the tours are more comfortable and more enjoyable (and also more of you can come along and enjoy the tour!)

On Friday 7th May we were awarded the Runner Up in the Home Based Business Award for the South West Small Business Awards for 2004. Yes - you may hear the odd peep from the smaller members of the household however you will receive excellent service!

We recently received notice that we were the recipients of a Community Conservation Grant for the awareness and monitoring program for the Yeagarup Dunes and Coastal area.

What this means is that people on tour will have the opportunity to help us conserve and retain this stretch of coastline and amazing dunes by helping us collect data. If you wish to help at all as a volunteer please let us know when you enquire.
