Trustees

The Trust is managed by an honorary Board of Trustees, the members of which, by virtue of their tenure of public office or position within the community, have been required to meet the criteria set down by the Australian Taxation Office for Public Benevolent Trusts. The current Trustees are:

Ian Bassett-Scarfe - Chairman - Principal of Bassett-Scarfe Realty, Ian is a past Vice President of the Real Estate Institute of WA and is Chairman of West Coast Radio. He is highly respected within the Peel district and well known for his ongoing contribution to the local community.

William Walker  A well known medical practitioner in the Peel region, Dr Walker is also a Director of Delmore Pty Ltd and has been actively involved in the local community since coming to the district over fifteen years ago.

Axiom Fellow - Dennis Lillee

Viv Edwards  Mr Edwards is a Fellow of the Australian Society of Accountants with over thirty seven years experience in that field. He is well known in the Mandurah community having served on many Boards and Committees. He is Trustee of the Margaret Down Foundation for Disadvantaged Children and Secretary of the Rock Lobster Association.

Mrs Julia Leat  Formerly Principal of Coodannup Senior High School, Julia held the position of Principal in a variety of schools from 1986 up to her retirement. She has been active in numerous professional and community organisations including Community Policing, the Peel Inlet Management Authority and Chamber of Commerce.  

Graeme Mander  Principal of Mandurah Catholic College since 1998 and formerly Principal at the college in Albany, Graeme is married with six children. He is also the Chairman of Midway Community Care in Mandurah and has a deep understanding of the impact that an intellectual disability has, both on the person affected and their family. His involvement in welfare programs, both in Australia and overseas, gives him a unique insight into the challenges facing people with disabilities.

David Hicks  The father of a young lady with an intellectual disability, David is a Supervisor in the construction industry. He is the Chairman of Peel Community Living and a Director of Midway Community Care. David is married with three adult children and has adopted a personal commitment to ensure that all people with disabilities have opportunities that other members of society expect for themselves.

Paul Ellard  Married with three children, Paul holds a senior management position with one of the states leading banks, a career that has seen him posted to Denmark , Kalgoorlie , Geraldton, Corrigin and Lake Grace. Paul takes an active interest in the development of the local community, particularly in the area of junior sport and family based services and facilities. He brings many years of management experience to the Trust.

Matthew Bassett-Scarfe  An experienced Commercial & General Practice Solicitor, Matthew is Managing Director of the Incorporated Legal Practice, Peel Legal & Property Services. He is married and is actively involved in the local community. He is also currently Vice President of the Mandurah branch of Citizens Advice Bureau.

Gary Pittard,  Hon Secretary  Currently Executive Director of Midway Community Care and formerly CEO of the Autistic Children's Association and the Autism Trust,  Gary has been involved in disability services administration for over 25 years. As the parent of an autistic son he has a keen awareness of the needs of disabled people and their families.
