George Forward,a widower with one daughter,Frances from Goudhurst,Kent married Sarah Walter Jeffrey on the 9th August 1841 at Horsmonden,Kent.He was 28 years old and she was 18 years old on their wedding day. They apparently went straight to the William Jardine embarked from Plymoth and arrived in Botany Bay on 23rd December 1841.They went first to Sydney then to Burrowa where George was a servant and gardener for Mr Howell.Their two sons were born in this district,George was born on 24th June 1842 and John William was born on 16th April 1848.

Sarah’s next child Elizabeth was born in Adelaide in 1849,the father was William Russell.Her 2nd child Christopher was born in Angaston,SA 1850.The remainder of her children were born in Creswick,Victoria.They were all living in a tent near their gold mine when Sarah & William Russell got married on 9th January 1856,with Sarah stating she was a widow and her husband had died in Yass NSW.

Sarah died of pneumonia at 44 years of age on the 8th July 1867.William died on the 8th April 1869 leaving 19 year old Christopher with a two room cottage on 19 acres and seven younger siblings to look after.

The two Forward sons lived with the Russells. Young George was christened George Russell on the 18/10/1856 at St Alipius Roman Catholic Church Ballarat,he reverted to the surname Forward after his mother died in 1867. John William however was always known as John William Russell,and when his descendants were approached by a family historian they had never heard of the name Forward.John William Russell lived in Creswick all his life and died in 1920,he was buried in grave # 3/219 Creswick cemetry.

George Forward Senior died on 13th December 1874 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Samuel Gearside in Braidwood,NSW.Only his daughter is mentioned on the death certificate,no mention is made of his sons or his second wife Sarah.It is unclear what happened between George and Sarah.Their marriage was obviously not happy,Sarah changing the surname of their two sons, then Frances ignoring the existence of her stepmother and brothers.

George and his family came over to WA around 1894.
In 1899 post office records show George as living at Mt Charlotte,Kalgoorlie.
In 1900 he died from a skull fracture sustained in a fall of earth at the Mignonette Lease,Tampa,WA.His wife Jane notified the Menzies registrar of his death in writing from her home in Great Boulder.
George is buried at Tampa cemetery,there is no headstone to mark the grave but it is believed that someone has marked the grave with a pile of rocks.
Only two other individuals are buried at Tampa.

On March 23, at 4pm, a wedding of interest was solemnized in Queen's Church, Boulder, when the Rev. Hyde joined in holy matrimony John Carl Daly and Daphne May Forward. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father to the strains of the Wedding March, wearing a dainty gown of ivory georgette trimmed with self ruckings. The veil arranged under a coronet of orange blossom, was loaned by Mrs. R Bowman of Boulder. A sheath of Easter lilies completed a most charming toilet. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Rene Crisp, wore a smart frock of pink georgette with black picture hat to tone. Miss Edith Forward, sister of the bride, looked very dainty in a frock of pink georgette and lace with hat to match. Both bridesmaids carried baskets of maidenhair fern and roses. Little Pauline Jordan acted as flower girl, wearing a frock of pink georgette with frills from the waist to the ankles. She also carried a basket of maidenhair fern and roses. The duties of best man were ably carried out by Mr. Hamilton Harper, and those of groomsman by Mr. B Daly. The organ was presided over by Miss Muriel Grenfell, cousin of the bride. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Boulder Caledonian Hall, where the tables were set out and decorated in true banquet style. The guests were received by the mothers of the bride and bridegroom. Mrs. Forward wore a smart frock of black and white silk voile with hat to match. Mrs. Daly looked charming in a frock of floral satin with hat to tone. A large number of relatives attended the breakfast, which was presided over by the Rev. Hyde. The wedding cake which was beautifully iced, was the work of the bride's mother and Mrs. Bowler, of South Boulder. The toasts were suitably made and responded to. In the evening a large circle of friends gathered round to wish the happy couple best wishes for their future happiness and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Dance music was rendered by Mrs. Taylor and Mr. Jock Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Daly received many beautiful presents, amoung which was an electric kettle presented by the Boulder Caledonian Society.
