Frequently Asked Questions -

Q: What is the age group of your membership?
A: The age of our members varies widely, from parents in their 20s with infant children to senior citizens who have grandchildren.

Q: This is all new to me, I don’t think I’ll fit in and I feel kind of self-conscious!
A: One thing about Parents Without Partners is that every member fits in since we have all been through what you may be going through now (whether it is divorce, widowhood, or just being single). We all have a common bond, being single parents! Many members and ex-members have established long-term friendships through our organisation.

Q: I have a friend, who is not a member, but who I’d like to bring along to a PWP activity. Is that OK?
A: Most PWP functions are for members and their children only. It’s always best to check with your branch members, confirming the activity is suitable.

Q: What kind of dress is expected at events?
A: Dress for most events is neat casual. For special events such as Branch or State Balls, a stricter dress code is applied.

Q: My children don’t live with me; can I still be a member?
A: All single parents are eligible for membership in PWP. Custody is not a factor for eligibility.

Q: Is PWP a dating service?
A: No! PWP exists for the benefit of its members and their children. We offer discussions, children’s activities and parent only activities. Although members sometimes do date each other, PWP does not offer any service of this sort.

Q: How do I find out what activities are going on for the month?
A: We produce a Newsletter every two months which is posted out to all our members. The Newsletter contains, among other things, a list of the social activities for every Branch in Queensland.

Q: I’m on a limited budget and would like to attend some activities with my kids. Won’t that be expensive?
A: PWP family activities are generally low cost. Some activities are free and some are subsidised at branches discretion.

Q: What kind of family activities do you have?
A: The family activities vary from Branch to Branch however a few examples are picnics in the park, movies, visits to places of interest, Ten Pin Bowling, Ice Skating, Rock Climbing etc.

Q: What parent only activities do you have?
A: For the parents we have House Parties, Dances, Dine-outs, Coffee & Chat nights, Learn to Dance Classes, Card Nights, and Progressive Dinners etc.

Q: If I have any more questions, who do I contact?
A: You can contact our Head Office by telephoning (07) 3275 3290 or by e-mail.
