I go to Nature to be soothed and healed and to have my senses put in tune once more...... John Burroughs (1837-1921) American naturalist |
Last year, while visiting the South-West of Western Australia, I found a place which I recognized immediately as the right place to scatter Michael's ashes. It is located near Albany, at a wonderfully wild and scenic spot named Stony Hill, high on a huge granite outcrop, overlooking the Southern Ocean with magnificent 360 deg. views all round. Michael had spent quite a number of years living in this most beautiful area of our State.
So, this July 2000, just over two and half years after my son's death, we drove down to Albany and after placing a small bouquet of wildflowers on top of the rock I scattered Michael's ashes to the winds, sky, ocean and earth.
There was a certain contentment in knowing that it was a place he would have loved .... its stark beauty, its untamed wildness, and its complete sense of liberty.

It was a beautiful cold, wild and windy day, (as you can see from how rugged-up I was on the photos), but was crowned by the appearance of a glorious rainbow which seemed to reach out to us. |

Our beloved Michael has once again returned to that state which we will all attain one day...... just as the trees and the stars, he will always remain
