My heater doesn’t seem to work. How can I fix this?

Thanks to Lazaros Zikou for updating this info....

I recently suffered the dreaded common VSV failure when the Melbourne 'Summer' turned to snow on the hilltops, and the Soarer heater tap refused to open, meaning no heat inside the cabin- BRRR! (Cold Aircon worked fine).

After confirming that it was in fact the VSV at fault by bypassing it and obtaining heat in the cabin, I conducted some searches of the respective Australian Soarer resource sites on how to replace the faulty Soarer VSV.

I found the text below (amongst others) on the ALSC FAQ pages, and also located a picture of the Soarer VSV, which is attached.

On my UZZ31 V8, 1993 model, the VSV has part number ND (Denso) 184600-1680.

This part number is unknown to Toyota, as is the equivalent Camry VSV part number mentioned in the FAQ text (88690-32280).

After many phone calls, I established that the correct equivalent Camry VSV part number from Toyota is 8869-110010. The Denso (manufacturer's) part number is 084600-7210.

I bought mine from Melbourne City Toyota for $49.30 (GST inc), trade price.

Equivalents can also be sourced from national Car A/C parts suppliers:

1) JayAir

Jay Air part number is VS0005, same as Denso (manufacturer's) part number is 084600-7210.

or

2) The Ingram Group

IIngram part number SWX 029

Hope this information helps our fellow Soarer owners!

The globes are blown for the A/C display. Can these be replaced easily?

Yes they can, albeit with LED's which work well for a lot longer.  I suggest you browse the instructions below on this site for the centre console removal, then refer to the PDF. Check out the PDF file here for details. A/C GLOBE CHANGE

My Soarer does have a smell inside the saloon. Can there be anything done to change this?

Your Soarer has an intergrated pollen filter for the HVAC system. This unit can be removed and when properly cleaned will dramatically decrease the smells in the cabin!! Please refer to Peter Nitschke's page A/C FILTER CLEAN

My A/C has a problem. When I turn the temp control to max cold it is ok, but when I gradually turn the temp control up the temp goes straight to hot. How can I fix this?

The ambient temp sensor which is located to the lower  left of the steering column behind a small grill is disconnected. This is normally done with audio or alarm installs and sometimes it is left like this...Just connect it back up.

My air conditioner doesn’t work, the light on the button is flashing, how can I fix this?

A serious error has occurred normally. Follow the following steps to check the fault codes. Codes are here>> CODES
