My EMV
dims when I turn on my Park or Headlights at night. Can I set the EMV to full
brightness during these times??
Yes the EMV is able to do this. Simply turn on the park lights then press the "illumination" button 2nd down from the top on the right hand side. The illumination controls come up on the EMV. Simply brighten up the display then hold the bright button for 5 seconds and voila!!......full brightness at night!!....This operation can be used to completely dim the display too!!!
My EMV
screen doesn’t work.
3 faults have come apparent with the EMV multi-display. Firstly, The 12-24v inverter for the backlight fails and the backlight stops working. Secondly there are a group of capacitors that leak and cause damage to one of the circuit boards, which causes backlight and touch screen failure. Thirdly the touch screen becomes "patchy". This may be fixed by a good and thorough clean. The touch screen can sometimes be fixed by cleaning it Follow these instructions...
1. Undo the
dash by removing the cupholder
2. remove the screws underneath the cupholder
3. remove the tranny cover
4. unclip the wires
5. remove the 4 screws holding down the emv cover with the two knobs (these are
located under the tranny cover - clearly visible
6. pull off the emv cover gently
7. unclip any wires
8. unscrew the emv (4 + 2 screws)
9. remove ALL the wires out of the emv
10. unscrew the aircon controls
11. Take it to a clean bench
12. unscrew the brackets from the sides
13. unlatch the plastic layer
14. flip plastic layer with screen over
15. unscrew 'touch' cover
16. You can now see sensors on the edges of the screen, most probably with a lot
of dirt in them. Use contact and switch cleaner for cleaning them.
17. While you're waiting for that to clean, use a streak free cleaner with a
lint free cloth to clean the actual screen.
18. follow steps 15 backwards to put the emv back in
19. Your touch screen WILL NOT work for the next hour or two and you WILL see
condensation on the screen.
20. However, after the condensation is gone, your touchscreen will be restored
to 'factory' condition - touch away

Where can I get CD-ROMs for Australia/England to suit the GPS Satellite navigation system.
This system is / was unique to Japan. Although several people have tried, the disk costs are prohibitive. The maps are ugly anyway, vector displays do not look as good as raster displays. Most people who really want GPS navigation elect for an aftermarket unit. Another major problem is that the data format for the GPS navigation is unique to the Soarers.
The Light bulb behind the Tape button doesn’t light, How can I replace this?
This Lights up ONLY when a tape is inserted in the player.
