Holy Trinity Cathedral visibly dominates the skyline of the rural City of Wangaratta.
The walls stand on footings five feet underground rising fifty feet to the clerestory parapet. The cathedral is 100 feet long and the crosses on the gables stand eighty-five feet above ground level.
The Cathedral is a simple and majestic building of devotional atmosphere and is an appropriate focus for the life of the Diocese.
The Willis III Organ
The present organ was built in 1922 by Henry Willis III for an Irish Church where, in the 1940s to 1960s, it was regularly featured on radio broadcasts.
It is very solidly built using fine materials and is an excellent example of the work of the firm under Henry Willis III. When the Church became redundant, the organ was stored for a time before being brought to Wangaratta in 1993. The eminent organ-building firm of Kenneth Jones Pty Ltd (Dublin) remodelled and restored the instrument.
The organ is a superb accompaniment instrument, and contains bold choruses in addition to a wealth of quieter sounds. There are three manual divisions and forty speaking-stops. The organ case dates from a previous instrument, brought to Wangaratta in the 1960s, and built originally for an English Church in 1886.
The Bevington Organ
This stands in the Lady Chapel. It was purchased in 2001 by friends and ex-choristers of Fr Paul Harvie, a former Precentor and Director of Music at the Cathedral who died in 2000.

Activities at the Cathedral
The quality and variety of liturgy and music at the Cathedral is a great challenge and delight. The Jazz Mass is one of Wangaratta Jazz Festival's biggest event of the first weekend in November. Week by week the Cathedral Parish offers worship and praise to God with great enthusiasm and beauty. The members of the Parish are very much involved in the life of the community particularly through the Parish's Emergency Food Group and other parish organisations.

Music at the Cathedral
The Cathedral Parish of Wangaratta has a fine musical tradition currently under the direction of Mr John Rivers, who is also the Cathedral Organist.
The Cathedral Choir of boys and adults sings during school term times at the Sunday Choral Eucharist and at Choral Evensong on the third Sunday of each month. It meets for practice on Tuesday and Thursdays. An occasional Adult Choir supports certain extra services and events.
The Cathedral hosts a number of musical events each year including the Three Choirs Festival mid-year and the Jazz Festival in November. Various other concerts with local and visiting performers are held from time to time.
The Friends of the Cathedral
The Friends of the Cathedral was established in 1997 and current membership is a mixture of local parishioners, past parishioners and a number of people who simply love the Cathedral Church. The Friends meet three or four times a year for fellowship and to raise funds for the Cathedral. Among our gifts are vestments, a short history of the Cathedral Booklet and a bible to Cathedral College. Currently, the Friends are working toward the restoration of the St Hilda window in the Lady Chapel. The Booklet and gift cards are available in the Cathedral Shop. Several events have marked the first years of the Friends of the Wangaratta Cathedral - a Soiree, a Seminar on Stained Glass and visits to parish churches in various parts of the Diocese. Membership is open to all. Contact the Secretary Miss Margot Ballard - 17 Moran Court, Wangaratta 3677 for details.
Cathedral College, Wangaratta
Cathedral College is situated on the corner of Ovens Street and the Cathedral Close and opened at the start of 2003. There is now a second campus located in Murdoch Road Wangaratta. The Cathedral Shop
Wangaratta's Cathedral Shop was established in 1992 and relocated to its present purpose-built location in October 1997. The Shop is staffed by volunteers who give generously and freely of their time. It provides a place of welcome for visitors as well as a wonderful range of church, devotional and spiritual supplies.
The Shop is located near to the main entrance to the Cathedral and is open from 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday to Friday. You can come and browse in air-conditioned comfort for a wide range of gifts, cards, CDs, tapes and books.
