The City of Albury is just north of the Murray River in New South Wales and has a population of 43,000. St Matthew's Church is situated in the heart of the city, in Kiewa Street.
The Albury Parish dates back to 1850. It was founded by the pioneer Bishop of Sydney, William Grant Broughton.
The first resident clergyman here, the Revd Henry Elliott (1850-1857), had a parish extending from Mt Kosciusko to Wentworth.
