Parish of Numurkah & Nathalia

Numurkah is in Northern Victoria, 38 km north of Shepparton. The area is an irrigation and dairy-farming district that has developed from the Soldier Settlements after World War I. Tourism is a rising business.

St George's Church was built in 1961 and is a modern asymmetric steel-framed building with belltower. It was designed by Louis Williams. It sits at the entry to the town centre, beside the lake and surrounded by rose gardens. there is a sense of spaciousness with wall-length windows, a high ceiling and a broad sanctuary.

Nathalia township is 23 km west of Numurkah. It has Soldier Settlement / dairying to the east and north, and dry farming wheat/sheep in the west. The town's population is about 1000.

Holy Trinity Church was built in 1887. It is a small but typical red brick church, Gothic in style, with a lined wooden ceiling and small sanctuary in the south. It holds about 100 people

Barmah is situated on the Murray River about 48 km north-west of Numurkah. the area was the ferry crossing on the river in the past, but its major industries are dry land farming (wheat/sheep, red gum milling and, recently, the largest area of rice growing in Victoria).

The Church of the Holy Nativity & All Saints, Barmah, is a modern flat-roofed Besser brick building built in 1967 at the eastern end of the town. It has parquetry floors, a wall of glass, and red gum features in many of its fittings. The altar is of stone. It was designed to be a multi-functional building. The fence is made up of the old ferry cable.

Wakiti Creek is a district that is situated between Barmah in the north and the little town of Kongupna on the Murray Valley Highway. It is about 45 km north west of Numurkah. It is made up of beef/sheep and wheat farming. Rice growing is now a major part of its growth.

St Paul's Church, built in 1895, is a wooden, steep-roofed church, lined beautifully with wooden ceiling and walls. It stands on the bend of the Wakiti Creek, cut out of a corner of a paddock. It is set in bushland and has no electrical power.
