Rob Douglas has been a pastor, journalist, and community service worker, mostly in rural Western Australia. In 2000 he was the national winner of a writing competition , "Celebrating Australia's Heritage - The Places that Shape Us", organised by the Australian Heritage Commission.

He is the Executive Manager Community Development with Baptistcare, an aged and community service organisation attached to the Baptist Churches in Western Australia.
