The Princess Royal Sailing Club situated at Albany on the South West Coast of Western Australia, was first
conceived at a meeting held at the then White Hart Hotel (later to become
the White Star) in Sterling Terrace. On February 24th 1909, the meeting
was convened by Frank Dymes and resulted in the formulation of the Princess
Royal Sailing Club, following the drawing-up of a constitution with Frank
Dymes heading up the team as Commodore. Tug Fleet owner George Waters was
elected Vice Commodore and Mr. E.C. Barnett a local merchant was President.

Located on the south side
of Princess Royal Harbour, some 11kms from the Albany City Centre,
the PRSC is a club of old traditions and recent achievements. Founded
in 1909 to race the work boats of the day, PRSC can claim to be the oldest
provincial club in the State and possesses some fascinating photographs
and trophies from this era.
The Club has been involved in
arranging competition sailing since its foundation with only two breaks
during the eras of the world wars, the club also has a proud tradition of excellence
in yacht racing organisations. Since the early 1960's PRSC has built
a reputation as host to State, National and World Class events in all classes
of yachts. Australian Class Associations book the club two years in advance
for National Titles. |
