Kerr Forest Map

Balingup Friends of the Forest is working towards a community management plan of a greenbelt, that circumnavigates the village of Balingup. This Greenbelt will contain the nine sites of significance, identified by the community as worthy of conservation. However, it has been the Kerr Forest block - the jewel of this greenbelt, depicted on the map as the dark green area, that has been the main focus for community attention and activities, because it is threatened with iminent logging. (This "icon" jarrah block was not included for reservation in the RFA.) Balingup people have maintained a strong presence in the Kerr block, protecting it by keeping it under permanent surveillance and persistant political lobbying.
