Schipp-Shape Steel Fabrications is a local business, started by husband and wife team, Colin Schipp and Paula Pugh Schipp. Having serviced the Gascoyne region for many years now, we handle everything from small welding repairs to very large, custom-built steel fabrications. We are a preferred contractor for Dampier Salt Limited, situated out at Lake MacLeod, 50 miles north of Carnarvon.
We employ qualified tradesmen who are experienced in all types of welding applications, including MIG, TIG and stick welding. On the left, we are carrying out repairs to the cutter bucket teeth on the gypsum dredge, out at Lake MacLeod. We strongly believe we have an ongoing commitment to training new tradespeople in our industry - see apprentice Kasy hard at work 200 feet over the ocean - not all apprentices have such great views from their workbenches!
See below ~ one of the steel fabrications completed in July 2003 - this is one of a pair of identical skids for the gypsum site out at Lake MacLeod. The logistics involved when working on fabrications of this size and weight are somewhat daunting at times but we are geared to deal with all situations.
