MARK AND HSV

As I have previously said, Mark is one of the busiest drivers, with many other involvements

besides racing. He has various involvements with Holden Special Vehicles, including "HSV

Skaife Drive-Ability" (his driver education program), is a member of the Product Development

Committee and is also involved in the marketing of the cars.

One of the marketing projects that Mark has been involved in is a HSV video, called "Mark

Skaife Introduces VTII & Grange LS1".

** "The 2001 Skaife Drive-Ability programme provides you with an

exclusive opportunity to enhance your total HSV ownership

experience. The programme is designed to not only offer you

first-class driving skills training and a genuine improvement in

your driving ability, but also to enhance your appreciation

of your vehicle's performance and technical edge. Your driving

skills will reach new heights as you receive personal tuition from

Holden Racing Team driver and reigning Australian Touring

Car Champion, Mark Skaife, and our team of highly qualified

instructors", HSV Skaife Drive-Ability**

HSV Skaife Drive-Ability is a Driver Education Program, exclusively for Holden Special

Vehicle owners. The program takes place at various race tracks around Australia and New

Zealand, including Adelaide International Raceway, Wakefield Park, Sandown, Wanneroo,

Eastern Creek, Norwell and Pukekohe, and is a complete day in duration, beginning at

8:45 am and concluding at 4:30 pm.

Before the day begins, participants receive a pit pass in their name , and a sticker of their

name to place on the rear window of their car.

The day begins with a short introduction and welcome, and is followed by some theory on

tyre pressures and correct seating positions and various other subjects.

There are various practical exercises, including a braking exercise and a slalom course

to teach throttle, steering and braking control, and a timed challenge, with the winner

receiving a prize. After lunch comes cornering techniques for both hairpin and 90-degree

corners, and laps of the circuit, with another timed challenge, again, with the winner

receiving a prize.

The day concludes with a final de-briefing and participants each receiving a signed

certificate from Mark Skaife.
