FFA Facts - Find out the truth about FFA Pages

If you're thinking about using FFA pages, please read through our site first. We'll tell you the truth about whether they are actually worth it. </font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial"><em>Surely submitting your site to 100,000 Free For All pages is going to bring traffic to your site? </em>The short answer is no, it won't. When was the last time you looked for an FFA to find a web site?</font> </p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">The simple truth is that NOBODY finds web sites through FFA sites. Free For All Sites are simply pages with a long list of links on them, with usually no other descriptions apart from the titles of the sites. Even if someone did visit an FFA page with your link on it, it is very unlikely they would find you amongst all of the other links there. </font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">We have conducted our own research and found that our web site received NO TRAFFIC WHATSOEVER from the thousands of FFA pages we had submitted to.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">People often submit their site to thousands of FFA sites in the hope that this will increase their "link popularity" and therefore boost their search engine ranking.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">The truth is though, that not many of the FFA sites are registered with the major search engines, so the search engines won't know that you have all these "links". If the search engines can't see all these links pointing to your site, then it won't have any effect on your ranking. If the search engines did find them, it could even hurt your ranking, as many search engines penalise you for artificially trying to raise your "link popularity".</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">Our own research has shown that submitting to Free For All sites does NOT increase your "link popularity" or search engine ranking in any way at all. In fact, it could harm your ranking in some search engines.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">The most common way to submit your site to an Free For All site is through an automatic bulk submission service.</font> <font size="2" face="Arial">The trouble is, as other people around the world submit their sites to the same lists, your site gets pushed down the list until you reach the end and are then taken off the list.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">Because Free For All sites are so popular and are so easy to submit to, your site can be pushed off the list in a matter of days or <em>even hours!</em> This means you have to constantly resubmit your site to maintain your listing.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">To test this, we submitted our site through a popular Free For All submitting service. When we viewed one of the link pages 5 minutes later, there were already 21 other sites above ours (out of a list of about 40). Within another 15 minutes we were to be pushed off the list!</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">FFA sites bring "spam" email. That's the reason why most of them have been set up. When you register your site you have to provide your email address and then the owner of the page will usually send emails to you trying to sell you something. Our experience is that most of these sales emails make ridiculous claims about earning $20,000 a week working from home and other similar claims.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">Although some FFA sites claim to be "spam free", most aren't, so if you submit your site to thousands of pages in one hit, you can expect hundreds and hundreds of emails within days - <em>and they'll often keep coming unless you unsubscribe to each one.</em> Occasionally you'll get emails that don't even let you unsubscribe.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">Increasing links to your site is really important.</font> <font size="2" face="Arial">If you make the effort to create quality inbound links to your site, you'll receive a number of benefits.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">First, if they are links from sites that are properly related to yours, then they will bring in good traffic that is actually interested in your site. Say for example you sell outdoor furniture. Having your link placed on a gardening site or something similar may bring in traffic that is more likely to be interested in your product.</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">Second, quality links that are related to your product will also increase your </font><a href="http://www.southwestecommerce.com/ranking.htm" target="_blank"><font size="2" face="Arial">search engine ranking</font></a><font size="2" face="Arial">. Search engines are pretty smart, and can work out whether the link coming into your site is popular, and also whether it is related to your site. You will get more "link popularity points" if you have inbound links from sites that are either popular or related to your product in some way (or both).</font></p> <p><font size="2" face="Arial">So, if you came to the end of this site hoping for a quick fix, I'm afraid there isn't one. The only way to build quality inbound links is to do your homework, find the right sites, and contact them to swap links.
