Worksheet 3: Keyboard Skills
Keyboard Skills:
In this worksheet you will begin to learn some basic keyboard skills. The first thing you will learn is the keyboard layout.
The Keyboard is roughly divided into two halves down the middle, each half is then divided into sections which are easily accessible with specific fingers, the diagram below displays this through the use of different colours.
The Yellow keys relate to your little fingers
The Purple Keys relate to your ring fingers
The Green keys relate to your middle fingers
The Red keys relate to your index fingers
The Blue Key is the space bar which relates to your thumbs
Central Line of the Keyboard:
 
In this Worksheet we will be focusing on the central line of the Keyboard which is as follows:
Left Hand: A, S, D, F, G

Right Hand: ;, L, K, J, H, D


Typing Skills:
The following typing exercises will build your skills in the use of these Keys, as the Lessons progress your will learn a new set of keys until you are confident enough in navigating the keyboard to begin using a wider combination.

You can type the following in either lower or upper case letters by pressing the “Caps Lock” key all of your letters will be upper case pressing it again will make them lower case, alternately you can hold “Shift” and press a letter in order to make it uppercase.

Using Word Type at least 1 line of each of the following using the correct fingers shown in the diagram, practice until you feel comfortable with what you know.
