The Celebrations

The Flinders Finale 2003 commemorated Matthew Flinders and crew members Robert Brown, Ferdinand Bauer, William Westall and Peter Good with the help of speakers, artists and singers. Many people enjoyed the hearty cooked breakfasts prepared by the Lions Club of Leeuwin and the delicious soups and salads prepared by the Friends of the Augusta Hospital. Junior members of the Augusta Yacht Club rewarded mothers on Mother's Day with sweet-smelling posies and Doopa Dog entertained the children with his groovy dance moves.

Event Program

Our Flinders Finale 2003 Program contains more information about the day's events, which we hope created further interest in the incredible story of Matthew Flinders, his fellow adventurers, and their contributions to Australian and local history. Print copies, containing more information about the voyage of discovery, are available from the Augusta Visitors Centre, Leeuwin Souvenirs and Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse.
