Choose your itinerary and make it a holiday to remember by visiting our numerous attractions.

Torndirrup National Park.

Enjoy the spectacular coastline including:
a)  Stoney Hill Lookout – to view the Southern Ocean and numerous Islands.
b) Salmon Holes – a haven for Salmon to rest at this beach. Cast a fishing line and you may catch one.
c) Jimmy Newhills Harbour – A picturesque little harbour sheltered from the ocean swells.
d) The Blowholes – Experience the roar of the sea.
e) The Gap and Natural Bridge – Shaped by the force of the waves on Granite, a sheer 25-metre drop to the ocean, watch the turbulence as the water is forced between the rocks.
f) Whale world – Cheyne Beach whaling Company was the last whaling station operating in Australia, now it is a museum with lots of information about Whales

g) Frenchman Bay – A delightful little beach near whale world. Perfect for a picnic or swim, also the site of an early Norwegian Whaling Station. A natural spring sweeps onto the beach from the hill behind.
h) The Wind Farm - largest turbines in the southern hemisphere, located on spectacular coastline.

 

Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve and Kalgan river Area

Home of many rare and endangered Birds and Marsupials
a) Call into the Visitors Information Centre to learn about the history of the area and see the displays and videos on the plants, animals and birds found in the Nature Reserve.
b) Take your lunch to cook on the gas barbecue, set your picnic out on the sheltered grass area under the trees and relax.
c) Walk up the nature trail to enjoy the magnificent view back along Two People Bay and see the huge boulders on the edge of the beach.
d) 2 minutes drive and you are at Little Beach with its beautiful turquoise water and snow-white sand. Walk along the beach and over the rocks at the end for a look at Waterfall Beach, a tiny beach graced by a small waterfall meandering down the hill amongst the rocks.
e) After leaving Two People Bay, call in at the Marron Farm and see the Process of farming Marron, West Australian Freshwater Crayfish.
f) A few hundred metres further on is a Wildlife Park and Horse riding Centre see Kangaroos and Emus, game birds and farm animals, or have a ride on a horse.
g) Turn left at the end of Two Peoples Bay Rd and visit Nanarup Beach, a good beach for swimming, surfing and fishing. There is a sheltered Cove for children to swim in.
h) Another popular picnic and fishing spot is under the trees near the Lower King Bridge.


Coastal Scenery on the Lower Denmark Rd.

A drive along the Lower Denmark road towards Denmark reveals more spectacular scenery on an often rugged coastline. Visit Mutton Bird Island, Cosy Corner, Shelley's Beach, and a number of local craft studios. Coastal walks for the enthusiast.

 

Stirling Range National Park.

The Stirling Range offer some of the best mountain walking in Western Australia. Bluff Knoll is the highest peak at 1096m. There are several other excellent walks in the park, and the wildflowers are breathtaking during the spring, with more than 1520 species, which flower from August until November, the park is also a mecca for bird watchers. 1 hour drive from Albany.

 

The Porongurup National Park

Only a 30 minute drive from Albany this is Western Australia’s southern most mountain range. See the unusual granite rock formations and enjoy the aerial view of the hinterland from the Devils Slide. A not too strenuous walk to the top amongst the Karri trees. Wildflowers are spectacular here too.
Visit the many boutique wineries to sample some of the regions best Riesling, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon, and call into the craft outlets in the area.

Historical Albany

Albany is steeped in history; there are many historical buildings to see many of them in the area around Stirling Terrace.
a) First visit is to our local tourist Bureau which is housed in the Old railway Station on Proudlove Parade, you can find out all that there is to know about Albany here.
b) Residency Museum – Learn about the history of the region and the maritime history, many well-presented displays.
c) The Brig Amity – A replica of the first sailing ship to visit Albany.
d) The Old Gaol – Behind the Residency Museum.
e) The Old Courthouse – Still in use today.
f) Several old hotels.
g) The Rotunda – On Stirling Terrace.
h) The Old Post Office and Inter colonial Communications Museum.
i) Patrick Taylor Cottage – A colonial cottage.
j) Several old churches in York and Duke St.
k) The Town Hall – In the middle of the city, view exhibitions here.
l) The Vancouver Arts Centre – Albany’s original hospital.
m) The Old Farm – Strawberry Hill. This historic building is on the first farm in Western Australia set amongst beautiful gardens and trees.
n) The Forts – Situated high up on Mt Clarence, a restored Defense establishment and barracks with a lot of memorabilia. Built as a protection to the harbour entrance during the war.
o) The War Memorial – At the top of Mt Clarence the assembly point for World War 1 Convoys leaving for Gallipoli. Home of The Desert Mounted Corp. Great views from Albany’s highest point.


Middleton Beach and Emu Point

a) copyright imageBeautiful Middleton Beach is only a 3-minute drive from the City of Albany. A perfect place to relax on the white sand and swim in the clear blue water, surf, or walk. Take in the breathtaking views of King George Sound from the boardwalk. Drive around Marine Drive from more of the same views from the car. Cycle or walk to Emu Point on the dual pathway. Just 2 minutes walk to the beach from The Terrace Bed and Breakfast, and Terrace Cottage (fully self contained).
b) Emu Point is a further few kilometres from the City and offers a safe beach for children and a lovely grassed area on the edge of the beach with trees to sit under. The fishing boat harbour is here and there are two groins to fish off. A picturesque area with Mt Martin on the other side of the channel.

Mt Romance – the Australian house of perfumes can be found at this Sandalwood factory, learn how sandalwood oil is extracted in the laboratory. Enjoy a tea or coffee in the Essential oils garden.
Dog Rock – can be observed from Middleton Rd.
Mt Melville Lookout – Offers 360 degree views over the city to Middleton Beach, the harbour, the Stirling Ranger, and surrounding countryside.
Whale Watching – This can be experienced during the winter and spring with Whales often seen from the beach at Middleton Beach or in the harbour and surrounding waters. Southern White Whales and Humpback Whales visit this area and can also be viewed on whale watching cruises.
Wine Tasting close to the city - Alkoomi Cellar sales & tasting in Stirling Terrace. Wignalls Wines Chesterpass Rd. Vineyard located 5 mins from city centre.
Diving on the former H.M.S. Perth wreck and also the coral off our coastline or if you don't want to get wet try the Reef Explorer Glass Bottom Boat.
For a River Cruise try the Kalgan Queen, leaves from Emu Point boat harbour for a 4 hour cruise daily up the Kalgan River also visits Montgomery Hill Winery.
