My Ancestors BISHOP CORBYN COTTRELL DIAPER
Judy BISHOP and her Family What we know of my ancestors is contained in the above family links. The BISHOP family came from Suffolk, England and were associated with the land. My Great Great Grand Father, Jonathon Corbyn BISHOP(1815-1906) was born in Halesworth, Suffolk England to Joseph BISHOP and Susannah and died in Goodwood, South Australia, he married Frances LINCOLNE (1819-1903), daughter of William LINCOLNE and Mary NAPIER in Halesworth on the 3 June 1840, Frances was also born in Halesworth, Suffolk, England and she also passed away in Goodwood, South Australia. The LINCOLNE family where shop keepers and business people. My Great Grand Father William Napier, was born in Halesworth, on the 4 May 1845 and passed away in Perth Western Australia, he married Catherine DOUGLAS (1844-1914) a widow, daughter of Robert DOUGLAS and Elizabeth ROBERTSON on the 25 November 1874 in North Adelaide, South Australia. This union produced 8 children one of whom is my Grand Father Theodore Lincolne BISHOP. Theodore came to Western Australia during the Gold Boom of the late 1890's and married Lillian Beatrice COTTRELL (1878-1856) on 4 February 1903 in Kalgoorlie. Lillian was born in New Zealand the daughter of Edwin John COTTRELL and Catherine KELSO. My father Clarence Keith BISHOP was the second of eight children of whom only three survived to adulthood. Dad was a Carpenter by trade and worked in Port Hedland before arriving in Kalgoorlie about 1935. He then worked on the gold mines with a company called North Kalgurlie 1912 Ltd and continued with that company until his retirement in 1970. Dad passed away in August 1993. Dad married Nancy Crawford MORTIMER 20 June 1937, and I am the middle of five children. Nancy Crawford MORTIMER was born in Kalgoorlie on the 22 June 1918 and passed away in Esperance in November 2004. Mum's parents were Alfred George MORTIMER son of William MORTIMER and Elizabeth METCALF and Harriet DIAPER, daughter of Edward Dennis DIAPER and Jane SCANLAN, Alfred was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales on the 24 January 1874 and passed away in Narrogin, Western Australia in 1922. Harriet was born in in Oatlands, Tasmania on the 1st October 1877 and passed away in Bunbury, Western Australia in1934, Alfred and Harriet married in Fremantle, Western Australia on the 22 January 1902.
