At times, as a tourist all you want to do is hang out with the locals and find out more about their lives. With Apus Peru's cultural extensions, we offer you this opportunity! These extensions should be purchased in conjuction with another trip.

Chicha & Sapo

Chicha was the sacred drink of the Incas and today is still a very popular choice for many campesino (rural farmers). We will visit a traditional chicheria, where you will have the chance to taste different types of chicha (frutillada & chicha) and be explained how it is made. Sapo was the game of the Incas – and involves throwing gold coins into the mouth of a frog. Like darts, it becomes addictive!

Includes: English, Spanish & Quechua speaking guide, One glass of chicha, one glass of frutillada, transport to and from Chicheria.

Not included: Extra drinks.

Upa upa u papa! ( Cienciano Game )

There is nothing that lights up Cusco more than a soccer game, as the streets fill with Cienciano supporters in red and white t-shirts. Cienciano is Cusco's football team, and for a small club, have achieved phenomenal success, winning the South America Cup in 2004! (This means that they were the best team in all of South America.) Go with a guide and find out a little more about the players and the history of the club! A very fun afternoon!

Includes: English, Spanish & Quechua speaking guide, Entry to the game, Transport to and from the game.

Not included: Drinks, snacks, water.

We offer affordably priced extensions so that you can depart on most days. If you are travelling alone, you can still depart on this extension, any day. (Price $15)

Christmas Chocolatada

Around Christmas time you will notice long lines of people waiting outside businesses, or churches. They are the poor and destitute of Cusco waiting for a chocolatada – which is offered by the more well of in Cusco in the Christmas spirit to the poorer. They are generally offered for children or the elderly, and the people receive a cup of hot chocolate, bread or bizcocho, some sweets and a toy. These are special events and we are offering you the chance to participate by helping out on the day and distributing toys. This is usually a half day event.
