Established in 1994, Wangaratta Out and About caters for a wide range of people with a program of interesting and diverse activities. Based in the heart of North East Victoria, there is plenty of scope for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy any of a number of pursuits. The club offers a strong program of bushwalking, kayaking, canoeing, cross country skiing, abseiling, rock climbing and cycle touring for all levels of ability, from the absolute beginner to those more experienced. As well as offering instruction from experienced leaders in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, we are able to offer a gear loan & hire service.

Many activities take advantage of the close proximity of the Australian Alps, particularly areas like the Bogong High Plains, the Mt.Buffalo Plateau and the Ovens & King Valleys. The diverse nature of the skills of our leaders enables us to offer activities throughout the year. Winter brings out the skiers with day trips and overnight tours. Spring rains mean that the white water flows and the kayaks(and their occupants) get wet. Summer finds the bushwalkers amid the startling displays of wildflowers on the High Plains, whilst often in autumn we hold a base camp in an area that allows the interests of a large group to be catered for.

The undulating countryside surrounding Wangaratta gives great scope for bicycle day trips. Wangaratta Out and About has an active cycling group providing midweek and weekend cycle tours for the two wheeled enthusiasts. All rides cater for different abilities and there is a leisurely Tuesday ride specifically tailored to new riders. Rides usually stop at one of the local coffee shops or bakeries for a break and chat with fellow riders.

The club meets bi-monthly with an adventure night. Guest speakers and gear displays are the major form of entertainment followed by supper and friendly conversation about past or up and coming activities.
