For the weekend 18 and 19 April, a team of twelve people and one mascot set off from Euroa to cross the Strathbogie Ranges and back again, in perfect weather conditions. The group consisted of eleven cyclists, one long suffering butler, who did it all with panache, and Dusty, the dog as our mascot. Upon leaving Euroa the road was seemingly, straight up and over the Strathbogies. "Some gut busting climb" was heard from one very strong pedaller. It gave me some 'heart' to hear that, as one who struggled up with the tail-end-charlie, with much cheering and yelling. But, what fun it was to come down the other side, and survive as well. In this department, chicks rule, as one femme fatale clocked 68.7 kph which is a fair score. I think between you and me, that a couple of gents did well too, but were chivalrous enough to keep quiet. Thanks boys. We then had a very nice overnight stay at a Caravan Park, in Alexandra, where the dinner thing was the Commercial Hotel. I can recommend this Hotel for a steak, which you would not find at your average pub. Our mascot helped out with the large serves. The next day saw us heading out of town under a cloudless blue sky with the next mini Buffalo yet to be revealed, and conquered. Yes, we all summited with the thought in mind of a promised surprise lunch at Ruffy. It was a surprise to me as I had never heard of Ruffy, let alone a Produce Store that held many a good treat with food and wine. Definitely a great high point to end a fantastic ride, giving pedallers and running gear a good workout. Thank you Glenise and Trevor (Dusty too) for an excellent weekend. It is, and was, much appreciated by everyone who attended.Judy Lardner
