Slide mouse over photos to see transformation

The 5th August 2002 in Karratha WA we purchased our Bus and nicknamed her Starship Gert. Ron worked on it for 8 weeks straight to get her livable. The Bus had been sitting for nearly two years. We have been in touch with the Omnibus Society of Qld and they have given us a lot of details with regards to her life as a city transport vehicle. There is a museum outside of Nerang Qld and is great to see some of the old girls are being preserved and still used to take interested people on runs.

The bed was in east west position and we wanted to be able to walk around the bed so changed positioning. The Bed lifts up to enable access to motor which is underneath along with plastic boxes for storage (and anything else we can fit under) The airconditioner was replaced with a split system A/C. All overhead cupboards were removed and mirror tiles put on the back. This makes the room appear larger. The roof was covered with Off white auto upholstery. This was the only thing that we paid someone to do as was a really tricky job. New lights curtains and venetians finished off our new boudier.

This area was changed extensively with a wardrobe, computer desk and Bathroom added. The chest of drawers we had in storage so made use of it. A book case sits behind and also cupboards the full length at back for shoes. A Storage box over the Wheel arch was built for linen storage and a place for Teddies to sit. Wardrobe is on left and computer desk has now been converted to extra hanging space as we now use a laptop. The Bathroom has a marine flush toilet and handbasin.

We closed off the front door and re-opened the middle one, we prefer this style as you have easy access to both front & back. The shower is in the far left this had to stay as was too tall to put at the back as there is a step up into bedroom. A storage cupboard to left of door also has the gas storage box accessible from the outside. A cupboard over the rangehood also give more storage. 2 burner cooktop microwave and electric oven in cupboard completes the cooking facilities.

The kitchen cupboards were secondhand and Ron spent quite a bit of time in refitting and redesigning them. The Bench tops we had made. The corner cupboard took Ron three days to complete and is a great idea. A small Lemair washing machine fits under the sink cupboard. We have 12v water pump connected to enable us to shower, wash when we are off road.

The Lounge area has seen quite a few changes, with recently having new cushions made up which are very comfy. Storage areas under seats are an added bonus. We have recently purchased a surround sound system which when fully pumped makes the bus shake literally. We are planning on buying a new Flat screen TV before we head off again, which will give us more room as existing one is only just sitting on front dash. The new one will be fitted to enable it to come down from the roof. We also have Digital set top box to enable better TV coverage when off road.
