| The York
Telecentre has introduced a program to help educate people with life
skills.
Life's Real is a series of informal seminars held at the York Telecentre conference room to help people learn about various practical things they may never have been given formal instruction in, such as writing a resume, buying a house, interview techniques, banking or sending and receiving e-mail. Project manager Steve Treg said the program was not just for young people but for anyone who was interested in the topics. "My aim is to help people," he said. "Let them know what is available. The courses last about an hour or however long it takes." The course topics are also flexible. "If someone wants something done," he says, "come and see me and we can formulate something." There are generally two topics available each month and are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 10am. |
The program
has been made possible by a Federal Government grant of $69,250 under
the Regional Solutions Program.
