WORK FOR THE DOLE
Work for the Dole (WFD) is a Commonwealth Government funded programme, that provides work experience opportunities for eligible job seekers. WFD is one means by which unemployed people can satisfy their mutual obligation requirement. Work experience is available in a wide range of activities covering areas such as heritage, the environment, community care, tourism, sport and the provision, restoration and maintenance of community services and facilities.
The York Telecentre is a sponsor organisation for the Commonwealth Government funded Work for the Dole programme We provide jobseekers with work experience activities and training in computers and office practice. They learn to operate as part of a team, work independently and improve communication skills. Job seekers gain skills to assist them look for employment and return to work. The programme is open to all eligible jobseekers over 18 years.
