Name of Nation – Galactic Terran Vasudan Alliance

Short Name – GTVA

Race - Terran/Vasudan

Government Type – Democracy/Constitutional Monarchy

Head of State – President Kim Labay/ Khonsu II

Capital System – Beta Aquilae

Population 3 Billion/1.2 Billion Vasudan/Terran

Though severely weakened by the NTF conflict, the Second Shivan Incursion, and subsequent rebellions and uprisings, the GTVA remains the dominant force in Terran/Vasudan space. Its fleets, though obviously no longer the force they once were, can still easily outgun those of any other nation. However, economic troubles and the ever present risk of a future Shivan incursion has so far forced the GTVA to curb any impulses it might have of attempting to reassert its influence over the rebellious nations around it, if it intends to maintain enough combat ready vessels to fight off another Shivan incursion. Though not exactly hostile towards these other nations, relations are, as one would imagine, somewhat strained.

Although the alliance remains strong, in the years after Capella, governance as drifted away from the all encompassing central government of the GTVA and towards the more centralized authorities of the individual species. As such, the two species can be considered almost as two separate entities.

The Vasudans have fared somewhat better than the Terrans of the GTVA in these early years of the Post Capellan era. Though some systems have broken away, their condensed but somewhat decentralized economy has allowed them to remain strong, even without these former colony worlds. That said, the losses of these worlds were not taken lightly, and the Emperor himself has stated that he would like nothing better than to see the reunification of all Vasudans.

With much of the joint fleet development funding cut by rebellions in Terran systems, Vasudan fleet development in the past several years has emphasized the development of smaller, cheaper vessels rather than huge destroyers, concentrating largely on the Sobek and Mentu lines.

The Terran half of the Alliance has suffered greatly in the past several years. With its economy, and indeed, populace, far more spread out than those of the Vasudans, the Terrans have lost much in the past five years of rebellion and strife. As a result, governmental policy has tended to be more militaristic in the past several years – often viewing events with an unusual amount of suspicion, and frequently quick to resort to force.

With as many problems as it faces, as well as the sharply decreased population it had from five years ago, the Terran half of the alliance could easily have diminished in significance, were it not for the powerful destroyer force it maintains, serving as the backbone of the offensive capabilities of the GTVA.

Combat - Raw Power – The Terrans of the GTVA have two primary advantages in combat – their significant destroyer fleets, and their ability to field the heaviest bombers, including the Ursa and Boanerges. This gives massive anti capital ship firepower, which, combined with the forces of the Vasudans, makes them an extremely powerful force on the battlefield.

Resources and Economy - Medium High – Though weakened by the loss of many of its key industrial systems, Ross 128 still supports significant resource development, and the significant population base of both the Terran and Vasudan systems that Terran corporations can exploit leaves the Terrans with a stable, powerful economy.

Other - Scientific Capability – The Terrans of the GTVA are the most scientifically advanced nation in the galaxy, with a dozen Faustus class cruisers and multiple ground based research laboratories. Though budgetary constraints sometimes limit research, and highly classified, long term projects have tied up significant portions of their research facilities over the past several years, they remain more than ahead of the game in most areas of scientific development.

Information on Key GTVA systems

Vega: Vega is one of the key battleground systems of the current galactic makeup. Vega attempted to assert its independence 2 years ago, but its strategic importance was such that the GTVA refused to allow it to break away. Unfortunately, Vegan rebels continued a program of harassment and terrorism, both on land and in space, to the point were it was no longer viable for the GTVA to remain in full control there. They maintain a presence there, attempting to root out and eliminate the rebels, but it is not even nominally under what could be considered GTVA control
